  1. The front left again, which I know points to the fact that there could be s'thing in my tyre....I WILL check it next time (3rd) in as many weeks!!

I'm not sure if I've got a tube, already. And it takes me hours!! and I might break a nail!!!! :D

  2. What happened to the mobile bike doctor?

  3. He did/does sound a fab guy, lives about 15 miles away though. It seems a bit crap getting him out for a puncture!! And he's not right keen to have a go at my gears, I'm guessing.

  4. I'm p* off, wi that bike mechanic, I'd told him he could take Ziggy Sunday - Tuesday. I've just phoned to ask if he still wanted the job, and he said he couldn't he was busy :(

I wish I knew exactly where that guy from round the corner is...I mite, have a look :(

I'm very unhappy it kinda makes me realise how on my own I am, when the inanimate object that I love, packs in I can't cope.

  5. Learn again how to fix a puncture with the correct tools.
Change your tyres to Schwalbe Marathons and you'll have less punctures.
Call the mobile mechanic. Everything about setting up the Nexus or Schlumpf gears is on the internet.

  6. When I spoke to the Bike Tree guy it seemed pretty clear it was the Nexus slipping - I've never known a Schulmpf do that. But he did say he'd not worked on one before. The instructions I've seen so far say to put the shifter into '4th' and twiddle the adjuster until two markers on the hub line up.
I'll see if I can find pictures - it really does look like it is something you can do yourself if I can find a video.
A front flat should also be easy enough with practice... maybe organising bike maintenance training classes is the next step for you?

(Ignore the funny bike, it just the gearing you're looking at).
You might not want to try making the adjustment but the video shows you where to look to see if it needs adjusting... When you are in 4th gear the two yellow bits should be lined up.

  8. Yep that is the way they adjust - and I had a little trick to keep that adjustment right when I had to remove the wheel - need to remember what I did with the Nexus hub on the Brompton. I did also 'cheat' by using an old friction gear change lever and doing it all by 'feel' saved a lot of bother with continually adjusting to suit the positions set by the fancy twist grip changer.

I know this mechanic guy seems to be a bit useless but please post some more interesting and original cursing. All the more reason to get F* trained-up.

Just accept that Faex Est (Shit Happens)
